SEEKONK - An early Sunday head-on crash on Route 152 left two area women injured, one critically.
Seekonk firefighters extricated both a 35-year-old Pawtucket woman and a 56-year-old Attleboro woman from their vehicles after the 2:30 a.m. crash near 804 Newman Ave., (Route 152) near Lowell Street, police Capt. Craig Mace said.
Preliminary information from the scene revealed that one driver was heading south on Route 152 when her car crossed the center line and collided with the other car, which then rolled onto its side, Mace said.
The victims were taken to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence by Seekonk ambulance.
Police did not release their names by press time Sunday night. One woman's injuries were critical, but not life threatening, said Mace, who did not identify her.
Route 152 was closed for several hours after the crash, which remains under investigation.
