Top Headlines Seekonk American Legion Post 311's Jake Cappello, an infielder and pitcher with the MIAA Division 2-South Sectional finalist Dighton-Rehoboth High baseball team, clubbed a two-run homer off of his Falcon teammate Nate Koneski in the seventh inning Monday to provide his club with a 7-5 victory over Swansea. The victory earned Seekonk, the No. 3 seed (17-7-2) a split of the first two games of the best-of-three, Zone 9 series with Swansea, the No. 4 seed, and will host the decisive third game tonight at 5 p.m. at Seekonk High School. Jay DeMello, who uncorked a two-run homer in the fifth inning to tie the score at 3-3 for Seekonk, ignited the seventh inning rally by belting his second hit of the game, a leadoff single into left field. DeMello advanced when Seekonk High senior Bobby Jeannotte spanked a double into left field in the final and scored the tying run on Cody Callahan's ground out. Cappello smacked his homer, while Andrew Pereira, the Seekonk pitcher, got out of a seventh inning game, as Swansea came up with a pair of runs. Swansea was minus Dighton-Rehoboth High slugger George Agostini (bruised ankle ligament), who suffered the injury in the opening game. Pereira gave Seekonk a chance to win by allowing Swansea just two hits and three runs through six innings. Pereira gave Swansea a pair of first inning runs on a pair of bases-loaded walks.
