Sad note: The venerable Cocke 'n Kettle in Uxbridge has closed its doors. Hearth 'n Kettle and Triple Play Car Wash & Quick Lube, both on Route 1 in South Attleboro, are teaming up to give patrons at the restaurant a 10-buck gas coupon if your party spends 30 bucks or more on Mondays and Tuesdays. The special runs Aug. 5 through Aug. 14. Good deal, says The Notester. They're having an ice cream social 2 to 4 on Sunday at the Middleborough Historical Museum on Jackson Street in Downtown Middleboro. What better way, says The Notester, to end National Ice Cream Month than with hand-cranked ice cream. There will also be music, games and puppets. Tickets are 5 bucks, 2.50 for kids 2 to 12. Look for flavored iced teas and salad lunches on the menu at Shirley's on South Washington Street in Downtown North Attleboro. (508.695.8837) The Wetherlaine's in Woonsocket, on River Street where BoxSeats used to be, has closed after being open about a year. Jack and Tiffany Wetherbee still own and operate the Wetherlaine's's on County Street in Attleboro - which incidentally will honor any gift cards from the Woonsocket restaurant - and Freestone's near the New Bedford waterfront. Notester trivia: Tiffany is a former Chapdelaine, which is where the Wetherlaine's name comes from. Shula's 347 on the city side of Atwells Avenue at the Hilton in Providence now offers lunch and dinner on their patio. (donhula.com and 401.709.0347) The haddock Alaskan is 12 bucks and twin lobsters are 18 bucks with the coupons in The Sun Chronicle Monday for Jenerationss on East Street in Downtown North Attleboro. (508.809.6585) They seat 35 outside and another 35 inside at the new digs of Starboard Galley on Charlestown Beach Road in Charlestown. And they have an indoor stage for entertainment, too. (starboardgalleyrestaurant.com and 401.364.7100) The Beantown Swing Orchestra provides the music for tomorrow's dinner theater at Roseland Ballroom in Taunton. Dinner and the show are 35 bucks. Look for dishes like orange Asian chicken, pesto chicken ravioli and Greek island shrimp. (508.809.9180) EVOO in Somerville celebrates its tenth birthday this month, so if you wish them a happy birthday you'll get 10 percent off the food portion of your bill. (617.661.3866) Old-fashioned apple pancakes and crab cake benedict grace the menu at the Sunday brunch at Benjamin's on Bay Street in Taunton. It's 10 to noon and they have live jaz, too. (benjaminsrestaurant.com and 508.824.6313) Book a table at Lineage in Boston's Coolidge Corner and you can order any bottle off the wine list for half its ticketed price to go with your dinner. This special - they're redesigning their wine list and passing a benefit onto you - ends Aug. 2. (617.232.0065) Tuesdays and Wednesdays you can get a three-course prix fixe meal for 35 bucks at La Laiterie at Wayland Square in Providence. (farmsteadinc.com) On Tuesdays they offer Bubbles & Oysters at OM Restaurant Lounge on Harvard Square in Boston. Between 5 and 7 in the lounge or patio they pair a half dozen Duxbury oysters with Moet et Chandon for 25 bucks. (617.576.2800) The Big E this year is Friday, Sept. 12, through Sunday, Sept. 28 at the Eastern States Exposition fairgrounds in West Springfield. (TheBigE.com and 413.205.5041) More than 150 wineries will be popping corks at the Newport Mansions Wine and Food Festival Sept. 25 through 28. Also look for dining opportunities, seminars and cooking demos. The New England Oyster Festival will be held the weekend of Sept. 27-28, on the waterfront in Newport. Bon appetit.
