Tiger's tourney's Birdies will aid the Arc this year
Top Headlines The Arc of Northern Bristol County has signed on as one of the designated charitable beneficiaries of the tournament's Birdies for Charity program. Under the program, the person who guesses the exact number of birdies made by all the players during the four rounds of the Deutsche Bank Championship wins the grand prize: Red Sox season tickets for the following season. All other entrants are eligible to be randomly selected to win the first prize, a trip to the Tiger Jam concert in Las Vegas. Last year, the Birdies for Charity program generated more than $300,000 for 23 local New England charities and the Tiger Woods Learning Center. Among the tournament's charitable beneficiaries are the Attleboro and Hockomock Area YMCAs and the towns of Norton and Mansfield. "This is a great way for people to support the Arc and have some fun with it, too," said Patricia Kirby, director of development for the Arc of Northern Bristol County, which helps 1,200 people with developmental disabilities and their families in 14 communities in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. "People are really intrigued by the golf and the opportunity to win some great prizes." "Our goal with the Birdies for Charity program is to provide local charities with fundraising opportunities that they might not otherwise have, and we feel like we have achieved that objective," said Jenn Spicer, charity coordinator for the Deutsche Bank Championship. "As we move forward, we see this program growing to reach more and more charities and positively affecting the lives of more of our neighbors."
